World-renowned diver Cristina Zenato is best known for her groundbreaking work with sharks, but this film shifts focus to another of her lifelong passions, exploring the intricate underwater cave systems of The Bahamas. Alongside fellow diver and photographer Kewin Lorenzen, she blends artistry with activism, creating elaborate underwater photoshoots where she free dives in flowing dresses to share an urgent environmental message.

Director Madeline Kennedy first met Cristina while making Ocean’s Rose, a film about Ben Rose, the world’s first “shark whisperer.” Their collaboration sparked a deeper look into Cristina and Kewin’s devotion to documenting and protecting these hidden underwater worlds.

Filmed inside the Lucayan Cave System on Grand Bahama, one of the largest underwater cave networks on Earth, the documentary reveals how these fragile environments serve as vital freshwater reserves that sustain island ecosystems and connect land and sea. The film’s color grade was designed to mirror the timeless beauty of the caves themselves, creating a visual experience that feels suspended between past and present, a quiet reflection on art, loss, and the hidden places that keep our planet alive. The film is currently in its festival run and will stream on the WaterBear platform, having also been selected for Directors’ Library.
