Frank and the Bell centers on Boston dive legend Frank Benoit, a veteran wreck diver whose career spans decades of exploration beneath the surface. Directed by Madeline Kennedy, the short documentary reflects on one of Frank’s most daring dives, when he recovered a World War II artifact that had long been hidden in the ocean’s depths. The film explores an era of adventure, risk, and discovery before modern ethics around artifact recovery took shape. Through Frank’s reflections, it becomes more than a story of one dive; it’s a meditation on how diving has evolved, how our understanding of preservation has deepened, and how history, once lost to the sea, continues to resurface and shape us. The film premiered onFilm Shortage’s YouTube in 2025.
